About ACT
The Association of Cycle Traders, best known as the ACT, is the largest cycle trade organisation in the UK.
ACT is a membership organisation representing the interests of over 3000 specialist cycle retailers and their supply partners throughout the UK.
What is the role of the ACT?
ACT is committed to the longevity of speciality cycle retailing, an over-arching brand available to all independent retailers engaged in the UK cycle market.
The independent cycle retail community is the most important and wide-reaching contributor to the growth of cycling in the UK. Cycle retailers engage with more cyclists in a single peak week’s trading than the membership
of the leading UK
cycling organisations combined.
Through a network of partnerships the ACT delivers a range of services to support specialist cycle retailers.

What is the structure of the ACT?
The Association of Cycle Traders is a not for profit organisation wholly owned by the membership, operating with a board of a minimum of four voluntary industry representatives. Click here to see the current Board of Directors.
The ACT incorporates a diverse retail network in terms of regionality, size of business and cycling styles throughout the UK.The ACT strives to support the interest of all of it's members and receives no external financial support.
ACT's day to day activities are administered by a specilaist third party organisation, responsible to the membership.

ACT values people
ACT recognise that people are at the heart of speciality retail and is committed to supporting the recruitment and development of quality individuals throughout the UK cycle trade.
ACT developed and owns Cytech, the bicycle industry's training and accreditation scheme for cycle mechanics and retail staff. Cytech delivers training and promotion of technical skills to the bicycle trade and to the generak public.

The ACT continually invest in the creation of consumer focused initiatives which deliver service and value to cyclists throughout the UK via the independent cycle retail network.
ACT is an active member of the UK cycling community with partnerships with trade and consumer organisations.
ACT is a founder member of the UK Cycling Alliance which funds the secretariat of the All Party Parliamentary Cycling Group.
ACT is an active member of the Independent Retailers Confederation (IRC) representing over 100,000 independent retailers throughout the UK.
